As of the version 1.12 update, the Seamless coop mod for Elden Ring is entirely non-functional. It is broken and will require extensive reworking from the ground up to make it compatible with the current version of the game.

Thus, Shadow of the Erdtree cannot be played using this mod either. Mods breaking upon the release of a major content patch is not entirely unheard of, however, and many have been hoping that developer LukeYui manages to find a workaround for the same.

In response, LukeYui has gone on to state the following on the official Nexus Mods page:

"Thank you for your patience - Please understand that I cannot make any predictions on how long it will take for the mod to be updated to be compatible with the DLC when it comes out."

The developer stated that they plan to completely overhaul it:

"The mod has been rewritten from scratch and will be entering closed-alpha testing to make sure it works as intended before the DLC comes out. When it does, and the mod will inevitably break, I will need some time to update it to work with the DLC. I will aim to prioritize this, but please be considerate that I have my own personal life and have a job with very long hours."

Solo development can be quite a hassle, and LukeYui has a mammoth task ahead of them:

"The improved version of the seamless will have many bug-fixes and QoL improvements over the current version and once the DLC comes out I will retire the (now old) version of the mod."

Readers shouldn't expect to be able to play using the Seamless co-op mod for Elden Ring anytime soon and wait till at least the end of 2024.
