The news of Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance coming to Playstation was confirmed through an official blog post on the PlayStation website. In it, Sony confirmed that the title will make its way to both the PS5 and PS4. The game being released on the latter is a sigh of relief for many fans because they were worried about its launch on previous-gen consoles.

In the blog, Sony also clarified that SMT Vengeance is not only going to be a visual upgrade but will also introduce various new game mechanics, including:

Gameplay mechanics

• Magatsuhi Crystals: Gathering crystals scattered throughout Da'at will grant special benefits, such as letting you replenish your HP, restore your MP, or boost the Magatsuhi gauge.
• Magatsu Rails: These paths, crafted from Magatsuhi, link different areas of Da'at and allow for faster travel and simplified navigation.
• Abscesses: Destroying these towering red landmarks will grant you various rewards.
• Magatsuhi Demons: Defeating these powerful demons yields items.
• Relics: Vending machines scattered across Da'at contain relics that can be exchanged for Macca.
• Treasure Chests and Amalgams: The title will have various Yellow treasure chests for you to find that offer items and Macca; silver Amalgams will grant Glory.
• Demon Navigator: This demonic ally will assist in exploration, alerting the player to items and Magatsu Rails.
• Aogami Husks: Examining these husks allows the player to acquire Aogami Essences, granting them new abilities in battle.
• Demon Haunts: Interacting with demonic allies through leyline founts unlocks unique conversations and rewards.
• Cadaver's Hollow: This location serves as a hub for buying items, selling relics, and helping Gustave by locating his pawns, the Miman.
