Silent Hill 2 Remake reportedly runs well on Steam Deck
As per MeriStation/AS, the title performed reasonably when tested on a Steam Deck. With FSR 1.0 enabled, the game was reportedly able to achieve 30 FPS at a resolution of 1280 x 800. If lower graphical rendering options are chosen in the game settings, it supposedly runs between 40 to 60 FPS.
If the source is to be believed, despite the limitations of the Steam Deck with a title made on the performance-intensive Unreal Engine 5, the game's performance is quite good.

As of yet, there is no official confirmation on the game's Steam page regarding Steam Deck compatibility. However, it is not beyond the realm of possibility to expect the same to appear around the launch of the game. However, please note that until officially confirmed by Valve or by Bandai Namco, such a possibility is purely speculative.
