Stellar Blade can be considered a semi open-world game, as it does not offer open-world elements in the traditional sense. Shift Up's latest title has the entire gaming community abuzz, and it's a mixed bag of gameplay styles. It's not a conventional RPG, or a hack-and-slash title, or even souls-like. This game combines all of these elements to create a rather unique genre, with areas that are considered to be "semi" open-world.
This article will help you decide if Shift Up's latest title offers the perfect post-apocalyptic playground to satisfy your hunger for open-world games.

As mentioned before, Stellar Blade is not an open-world title in the traditional sense. The title doesn't offer a single, continuous open world. Instead, you have to explore a series of open-ended areas that may or may not be directly linked.
A fast travel feature exists to allow for smooth and seamless travel between regions. According to Shift Up CEO Kim Hyung-tae, the game's main area, Xion, is a hub connecting these semi open-world regions (like the Wasteland and the Great Desert).
This unique hybrid approach leaves room for speculation. While the system does offer streamlined and linear gameplay, the restriction on true open-world exploration may be a bummer to many gamers out there.
What platforms can you explore Stellar Blade on?
Stellar Blade is only available on the PS5 (for now). In an interview with Famitsu, Kim Hyung-tae said:
"I felt that I wanted to release a high-quality game on a single platform. And so when it came to deciding on which platform, I determined PlayStation 5 would deliver the most optimal gameplay experience."
The technical director of the game Dongi Lee highlighted how the DualSense's adaptive triggers and the rapid loading times of Sony's console were two factors that contributed to a greater sense of player involvement.
However, Sony has recently been porting some of their console exclusives to PC, and there's a good chance Stellar Blade will land on PC sometime in the future. Only time will tell if Shift Up's game will make the jump, but PC gamers can stay optimistic.
