Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2 will come in a variety of editions, including the Ultra Edition. This second most expensive bundle contains several different items, including some that can only be obtained as a pre-order bonus. However, it’s not always clear if the bundle is going to be worth it to you as a consumer. As someone who is incredibly excited for this game, candidly speaking, I’m not seeing much in the way of value for the Ultra Edition, at the time of this writing.
While Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2 promises to be one of the hit co-op experiences of 2024, what about the Ultra Edition? Should you pick it up, get one of the other versions, or perhaps just wait altogether? Here’s what it costs, features, and if it’s worth your money.

Essentially, you’re paying an extra 10 dollars for what will amount to cosmetics for this upcoming third-person multiplayer shooter. If this isn’t something that matters to you, you are likely going to be better off not purchasing the Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2 Ultra Edition. Both it and the Gold Edition come with the Season Pass, but then the question becomes, “Is the Season Pass worth it?” Well, it depends on what you’re looking for.
Focus Entertainment answered this on their website when the three-player co-op mode was revealed. The Season Pass will only feature a host of cosmetics, while new content (missions, enemies, weapons) will be available in free updates for everyone. That means, if you don’t care about cosmetics, you shouldn’t get either the Ultra Edition or Gold Edition. These are mostly geared towards the hardcore fan who might want a different look for their Space Marine.
Typically, Season Passes are for unlocking new characters and challenging content, but Focus Entertainment is giving that away for free. Without a hard confirmation of what is in the season pass other than “cosmetics”, we cannot in good conscience recommend it as a purchase, except for the most die-hard Space Marines fans.
Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2 is coming on September 9, 2024, to PlayStation 5, Xbox series X|S, and PC storefronts.
