League of Legends patch 15.1b preview: System nerfs and Swiftplay changes

Riot Games has implemented several changes through the League of Legends patch 15.1b (micro patch) after the recent release of patch 25.S1.1 on January 9, 2025. Since it was the first patch of the year with new gameplay changes, the developers thoroughly monitored the game state and how each aspect was panning out. Thus, a micro patch has been released to fix some in-game issues.

Summoner's Rift changes in League of Legends patch 15.1b

Riot Games has reduced the power level of certain Boots within the Feats of Strength. This adjustment is due to the Triumphant Sorcerers providing an excessive amount of free statistics. Additionally, a few outlier Tier 3 upgrades are also experiencing a decrease in their power level.

Concerning Atakhan, the Bloody Petals are being nerfed, as they contribute excessively to the overload of damage thresholds. This modification is anticipated to alleviate the snowballing, particularly during the mid-game phase.

All the system nerfs in the Summoner's Rift in League of Legends patch 15.1b are highlighted below:

System nerfs

1) Armored Advance

• Shield Amount: 10-140 (based on level) + 4% max health → 10- 120 (based on level) + 4% max health
• Shield Cooldown: 12 → 15 seconds

2) Bloody Roses

• Bloody Rose Spawn Rate from Gloom (Champion Deaths): Slightly reduced Bloody Rose Spawn Rate from Atakhan's Pit: Slightly reduced

3) Chainlaced Crushers

• Shield Amount: 10-140 (based on level) + 4% max health → 10- 120 (based on level) + 4% max health
• Shield Cooldown: 12 → 15 seconds

4) Spellslinger's Shoes

• Magic Penetration: 19 → 18
• Percentage Magic Penetration: 10% → 8%

5) Triumphant Sorcerer's Shoes

• Bonus Magic Penetration: 4 → 2
• Total Magic Penetration: 16 → 14

• Movement Speed: 75 → 70

Swiftlpay changes in League of Legends patch 15.1b

The recent introduction of the Swiftplay game mode has proven to be quite successful. Nevertheless, certain champions are undergoing adjustments to enhance overall balance. Concurrently, the Voracious Atakhan has been appearing excessively in Swiftplay, prompting a slight modification to his spawn rate in this micro patch.

Here are the Swiftlpay changes in League of Legends patch 15.1b:

Champion buffs

1) Seraphine

• Health Growth: 90 → 95
• E Damage: 70-190 (+ 50% AP) → 70-210 (+ 60% AP)

• Passive Damage: 40-150 (+ 25% AP) → 40-150 (+ 40% AP)
• W Damage: 80-240 (+ 30% AP) → 80-240 (+ 50% AP)

3) Ziggs

• Q Damage: 85/135/185/235/285 (+ 65% AP) → 85/135/185/235/285 (+ 75% AP)
• W Cooldown: 20/18/16/14/12 → 18/16/14/12/10 seconds

1) Jarvan IV

• Armor Growth: 5.2 → 4.7
• Q Damage: 80/120/160/200/240 (+ 140% bonus AD) → 70/110/150/190/230 (+ 140% bonus AD)

2) Kayle

• Attack Speed Growth: 1.5% → 1%
• Attack Damage Growth: 2.5 → 2
• W Movement Speed: 24-40% (+ 8% AP) → 24-32% (+ 8% AP)

• Health Growth: 100 → 92
• R Damage per Tick: 65/105/145 (+ 45% AP) → 60/100/140 (+ 40% AP)

System adjustment

1) Atakhan

• Adjusted the thresholds required for Atakhan's Ruinous form to spawn in Swiftplay so that he should now appear more often.

Matt Leung-Harrison, known as RiotPhroxzon on X, provided comprehensive insights about the League of Legends patch 15.1b. He also stated,

"Thank you for playing and engaging with the new season, we hope these adjustments will make weekend play feel a lot better and we will be back with regularly scheduled Patch Preview on Monday."

With all the new content in LoL, players are finding it a bit too difficult to adjust to the new meta. Atakhan and its snowballing prowess are making some games one-sided and impossible to come back during the mid-to-late game. As the developers are constantly monitoring the game state and giving updates, players are hopeful for a balanced solo queue experience in the future.
