LEGO Horizon Adventures: How to beat Sawtooth

As Aloy proceeds through LEGO Horizon Adventures, she’ll encounter quite a few powerful bosses, including the Sawtooth. A powerful, aggressive Tyrannosaurus Rex Machine, it awaits at the end of Chapter 3, during the Instructions Not Required stage. While you can play against the bosses with any character you’ve unlocked, we preferred to stick to Aloy for this one. She was our highest-level character, and thus, had the best reach and most HP in case things got hairy.

As we noted in the review, LEGO Horizon Adventures isn’t an especially lengthy game, and it shouldn’t take you too long to come across the Sawtooth boss. However, if you’re having trouble with it, we’re here to help.

Tips to defeat Sawtooth in LEGO Horizon Adventures

The arena in which you fight Sawtooth in LEGO Horizon Adventures is an interesting one. There’s a flowery section in the middle with a corruption marker, and several corruption markers set in a circle around the arena. You can certainly use these to your advantage, by detonating them when Sawtooth is around them.

There are also explosive barrels around the map you can use, too. This is handy because one of the first things Sawtooth does is summon friends to help fight you. This also helps you get gadgets and rare weapons, which is nice. If you scan the boss, you’ll see that it has weak points on top of its leg joints, and at the tailbone section.

Sawtooth has some noteworthy attacks as well. It can summon a series of red circles, which come in the form of meteors that explode. Next, Sawtooth will shoot fireballs at you that also light the ground on fire in LEGO Horizon Adventures. What's more, these appear to track. In addition, he has a leap that can clear the full screen.

It’s worth it to throw the barrels on Sawtooth to set him on fire, and even better if it hits Corruption and one of the extra machine monsters. That can deal a decent amount of damage all at once. At 50%, the boss gets stunned, so take that time to get as much damage in as possible.

This is a fight where you have to stay on the move and keep pinging away with charged arrow shots whenever you can. The shield gadget helps here too, since the enemy adds fire projectiles. You can reflect them back to deal with that threat. This shield also reflects the fireballs — but not the meteors.

If you can get the spread shot to deal with Sawtooth, you can hit multiple weak points from behind, dealing extra damage in this LEGO Horizon Adventures boss fight. Hopefully, an Ice Bow will drop later in the fight too, because you can completely freeze the boss with one arrow, and get free attacks in.

I’d freeze the boss with an arrow, swap out to normal arrows, and get a few shots in. It won’t take long to deal with Sawtooth, thankfully. It doesn’t have any extra, last-minute attacks to worry about.

After you defeat Sawtooth, you’re very close to the last boss. Just one more region, then you’re at the final boss of the game. You’ll need all your wits and patience to get through that fight.
