LoL: Why no Farm Zilean is super effective

LCS has just reached week 3 and there have already been tons of unique picks and weird strategies. One of the strategies came to light when Huni from Clutch Gaming locked in Zilean top against 100 Thieves. Though Clutch Gaming lost the match eventually, the power of no farm Zilean didn't go unnoticed.

So what exactly is no farm Zilean?

As troll as it sounds, it's true to its name but is very effective. You essentially deny as much CS to the enemy while harassing the enemy with your abilities. You start with Spellthief's edge and 2 potions. Use the passive of Spellthief to net extra gold every time you go against the enemy champion. Be aware when you kill a minion as the passive will reset for 12 seconds. This is extremely annoying to face and can easily tilt your opponents.

You can upgrade the Spellthief's Edge to Frostfang for 450 golds. After the upgrade, you can start taking the CS as it won't reset the passive. You can go for a standard build after that. For runes, Kleptomancy is the preferred one as it will get you bonus gold every time you hit the opponent. Using this strategy will get you far ahead of your opponent in terms of gold by killing almost zero minions!

You can upgrade the Forstfang into Remnants of the Watcher. This will help you get the additional vision for your team.

There are few champions that work really well with this strategy. Zilean is the most notable one along with Karma. You can go for a tank Karma build which is disgustingly tanky and yet deals a ton of damage at the same time. This also brings a much-needed utility to the team composition. The strategy is very effective and might surprise your enemies. So be sure to give it a try
