Being a souls-like action role-playing game, CI Games and Hexwork's Lords of the Fallen features some truly amazing boss fights that rival even the mightiest of battles in FromSoftware's games. Similar to the Dark Souls frilogy, it offers some really spectacular and challenging boss fights within the early-game sections itself.
And Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal is arguably the most challenging boss you will face in the early hours of Lords of the Fallen. While the boss fight isn't particularly tough once you do understand the game's combat system, Pieta isn't a cakewalk either, even for hardened veterans of the souls-like genre.
Among many other things, Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal is the first major boss in the game that has two entirely distinct phases. Coupled with her "Radiance" projectiles as well as AOE (area of effect) attacks, she makes for a true test of your understanding of the game's combat basics.
Here's a comprehensive guide on how to easily defeat Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal in Lords of the Fallen.

Tips to easily defeat Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal in Lords of the Fallen
Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal is essentially the first major story boss in Lords of the Fallen, if you discount the tutorial boss fight against the Holy Bulwark Otto. Although you do face another significantly tougher boss before her, i.e., The Lightreaper, it's not a mandatory boss fight. Being a humanoid, Pieta is quite agile and has a wide array of combos at her disposal.
Fortunately, her being a human enemy type also makes her quite vulnerable to stagger damage. This makes charged heavy attacks as well as perfect blocks super viable against her. However, parrying her attacks isn't as easy as it might seem, since all of her combos have a fairly long delay and can throw you off while trying to execute a perfect block.
Here are a few tips that will definitely help you defeat Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal in Lords of the Fallen using any of the starting classes:
- Pieta always starts the fight with a two-hit combo, which can be easily dodged or even parried. However, I personally recommend dodging through the attack, as it is much safer.
- One she performs either her two or three-hit combo, Pieta usually pauses for a brief moment, giving you ample time to dish out damage to her.
- The first phase (roughly 25% of her total healthpool), is quite easy to manage, as long as you time your dodges. it might take a few tries, but dodged her two or three-hit combos is quite easy.
- Make sure to not rush your attacks, as Pieta also has a small AOE attack that she can perform at the end of her combo.
- Once she transitions to the second phase (marked by her wings), she becomes significantly more agile and gets access to a whole arsenal of new attacks.
- The most lethal attacks that you need to look out for her are the rain of "Radiance" arrows and the homing projectile. She also has a grab attack, which she only performs if you get too far from her.
- The best way to deal with the second phase is to stay underneath her and chip away at her health bar following her three/four-hit combos. Make sure you keep an eye on her clones as well, which can easily overwhelm you if you try to rush.
- Having a fast weapon does help immensely against this boss. However, you can also defeat her with heavy weapons, as long as you stay on your toes and manage your attacks and dodges.
Once Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal is defeated, you will get access to Lords of the Fallen's central hub - the Skyrest Bridge. At the hub, you will meet a reincarnated Pieta. The character serves the same role as the Firekeeper from the Dark Souls games, letting you upgrade your healing vials, i.e., Sanguinarix.
