Lucy in Reverse 1999 is an Arcanist who will debut in the 1.9 update. She is of Intelligence Afflatus, who deals Reality damage and has DPS, Extra Action, and Reaper tags. This character can upgrade her incantations, which change skills’ effect and deal additional damage. Additionally, whenever an enemy is defeated, she gains a permanent buff and takes an extra action.

Here are the skills of Lucy in Reverse 1999:

  • Power of Speed (Basic Skill 1): Before upgrade, this skill deals damage to a single target. Lucy consumes a certain number of Dynamo stacks to deal extra damage. After upgrade, this skill becomes a mass attack that deals increased damage to the main target and half to the secondary at half the Dynamo stacks.
  • Electric Surge (Basic Skill 2): Before upgrade, this skill deals damage to two enemies and consumes a certain number of Dynamo stacks to attack one additional foe. If there are less than three targets, Lucy deals extra damage. After upgrade, Lucy deals additional Genesis damage based on her Attack at half the Dynamo stacks.
  • A Step Forward (Ultimate Skill): Before upgrade, the Ultimate skill grants the Pragmatist, Data Iteration, and Charged Ammunition buffs. After upgrade, the skill upgrades the Charged Ammunition buff to Overcharged Ammunition and grants more Dynamo stacks. She also gains Moxie after casting the Ultimate skill.

Explanation of effects

  • Pragmatist: All Lucy’s attacks are considered to have a stronger Afflatus, and she gains an Afflatus advantage, regardless of the enemy’s Afflatus. Additionally, all allies deal increased damage against enemies of weaker Afflatus.
  • Charged Ammunition: Lucy gains a certain number of Dynamo stacks before attacking.

Lucy’s Inheritance is called The First Push. At Insight I, Lucy receives Dynamo stacks whenever an ally or she gains Moxie or Eureka. She enters the Advancement status when all allies gain a certain number of Dynamo stacks. Upgrading her to Insight II increases Lucy’s Critical Rate upon entering the battle.

At Insight III, Lucy gains the Leadership effect and casts Conservation of Energy after casting the Ultimate. She also gains Dynamo and Data Iteration and casts Conservation of Energy whenever she defeats an enemy.

The Advancement effect upgrades one out of three incantations at the round’s beginning. If all incantations have upgraded, it upgrades her Ultimate Skill. The Leadership effect increases all allies’ damage against enemies of a weaker Afflatus. The Data Iteration effect boosts her attack, which can stack and can't be dispelled.

The Conservation of Energy is Lucy's follow-up attack and deals damage to all enemies. She consumes Dynamo stacks to increase the Penetration Rate for Conservation of Energy. After Upgrade, this attack ignores Dodge and won’t trigger Reflect or Riposte if the enemy’s HP is below a certain percentage.

Due to her ability to deal Reality damage, Lucy in Reverse 1999 fits well in Reality teams. Additionally, she gets Dynamo stacks whenever an ally or herself gains Eureka or Moxie. The Dynamo effect also upgrades her incantations. Therefore, players can pair her with Getian of Beast Afflatus, 6 of Intelligence Afflatus, and Isolde of Spirit Afflatus for Support.

Getian and 6 can gain Moxie and Eureka, enabling Lucy to gain Dynamo stacks. On the other hand, Isolde can reduce enemies’ Critical Defense and Reality Defense, allowing Lucy to deal more damage.

Players can also pair Lucy with 37 of Star Afflatus, Marcus of Plant Afflatus, Bkornblume of Plant Afflatus, and An-an Lee of Plant Afflatus for Support.

Players can use Vila of Plant Afflatus, Tooth Fairy of Star Afflatus, Yenisei of Star Afflatus, and Medicine Pocket of Beast Afflatus for healers.

Lucy in Reverse 1999 will be available to pull in the anniversary-limited banner, Thoughts in Cylinder. The Arcanist won’t be available in future banners or have reruns.

Lucy is one of the best DPS characters in Reverse 1999 for Raids and other content. Additionally, her Intelligence Afflatus makes her neutral against enemies. The character can also have an Afflatus advantage over enemies of any Afflatus with her Ultimate Skill. She works excellently without any dupes, making her F2P-friendly.
