What's the story?
Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes has been the latest player to take up cudgels against EA Sports. He took to Twitter to point out that his player avatar largely resembled Ivory Coast and former Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony. With the big release inching ever closer, more and more eyes have been trained towards EA Sports. Here is Gomes' tweet below:

A couple of days earlier, Manchester City striker Benjamin Mendy also pointed out that his player avatar resembled retired player Emile Heskey.

The heart of the matter
The likes of Michy Batshuayi, Dele Alli and Mendy himself have focused on their player rating while Nile Ranger had issues with being excluded entirely. But Gomes' grouse is that his avatar does not look like him, instead, it seemed that EA has mistaken him for Swansea forward Bony. Gomes is a product of the Manchester United Academy and was even included in the first squad on the final match of last season. Gomes is the recipient of the Young Player of the Year award in May and has caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs already.
What's next?
It has been reported that Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, also a former United player, is eager to get the Englishman to join the Spanish giants. He netted 2 penalties in the U-18 match between United and Arsenal, thus helping the Red Devils register a 4-3 victory.
Author's take
No gaming company is perfect and mistakes do happen. It was fortunate that the errors were spotted before the game's release or else it could have been rather embarrassing for a reputed company like EA. Who knows, as his career progresses, maybe he will get greater recognition from gaming companies in the future and have no need to call out those in charge of player construction.
