Marvel Rivals has become one of the biggest hero shooters in a short period, and its community is growing rapidly. With over 20 million players in less than a month and hundreds of thousands of concurrent players daily, it's safe to say the players are loving it and the game won't die any time soon. However, with its surge in popularity, it's also encountering increasing toxicity withing the community.
Various discussions on social media platforms highlight the concerns about the community's conduct. This issue is faced in almost all popular competitive games, where passionate players sometimes foster negative interactions while playing ranked mode as they want to reach higher ranks with ease.

Rising concerns over community behaviour in Marvel Rivals
The Marvel Rivals community is facing two primary issues that contribute to the rising toxic behavior. The first stems from the influx of new players who are unfamiliar with competitive shooters. It is the first Marvel-related game in this genre that has attracted many players who lack experience. On the other hand, some seasoned veterans have arrived from games like Overwatch and have high expectations.
Experienced players get frustrated over mistakes made by new players, which is normal. However, the situation gets worse knowing the fact that newcomers can access ranked game mode after reaching an account level of 10, which is easy to achieve. This results in skill mismatches and tense interactions in competitive.

Another major factor is the lack of a role queue. Without predefines roles, teams mostly end up in unbalanced compositions often consisting of all or majority of Duelists in a team. This imbalance results in a lack of healing or defensive capabilities, leading to miscommunication and arguments.
Marvel Rivals is still a relatively new game and it's bound to face growing pains. The developers are likely aware of rising concerns about toxicity and could already be working on solutions to minimize it. In the mean time, players need to approach the game with patience and understanding. Newcomers should feel welcomed and players should understand it's just a game!
