Marvel Rivals is NetEase Games’ latest release and secured an overwhelming number of players. The community seems thrilled to be able to play as their favorite Marvel characters, and one player decided to recreate an iconic Spider-Man meme referencing the 2008 action-adventure game Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. u/tddcghnn uploaded a short gameplay clip with the meme video and said:
“Damn, Web of Shadows is the best Spider-Man game!”

In the video, one of the players playing Spider-Man walks around the chaotic battlefield while both teams engage in a fight for the game objective. This was quickly stitched together as the perfect reference to one of the cutscenes that appears in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows.
The post gained the interest of several players. u/ShaoIsMCHammer chimed in and mockingly commented that this seems to be the reason why Spider-Man is not able to secure any kills. Another Reddit user, u/The_8th_Degree, cited that Spider-Man players are either sitting at the bottom of the scoreboard or demolishing their opponents in Marvel Rivals multiplayer matches.

Fans flooded the comment section and rated the player’s performance as perfect. Some even appreciated the action of the Captain America player who allowed Spider-Man to continue the walk quite a bit before securing the kill. The video was also matched with the meme almost perfectly making people nostalgic about the original game.
Some players like u/skeletorbutfrench stated that this was an incredible sight to see and wished for the game to receive a remaster to run it on new-generation hardware. The community shared this humor-filled moment with the recreation of the classic Spider-Man slow-walk meme.

However, a few members of the community also questioned how the player was able to avoid sprinting in the game. Some even questioned if this was an emote that could be purchased in the game. But this seems to be a feature that can only be used by console players at the moment.
How many Spider-Man skins are available in Marvel Rivals?
The game currently features only four Spider-Man skins, including the default one in the Heroes tab. All three of the locked cosmetics can be bought by spending Units, an in-game currency. Here is a list of all the Spider-Man skins that you can get in Marvel Rivals:
- Spider-Man (unlocked by default)
- Spider-Man: No Way Home Bundle (2600 Units)
- Spider-Man: Bag-Man Beyond Bundle (1800 Units)
- Spider-Man: Chasm (600 Units)

The developers will likely release more character skins for the game in future updates. However, most of the cosmetics will likely be integrated with microtransactions. It is unlikely that signature Spider-Man skins would be made available as free rewards or be included as incentives to complete challenges.
