Marvel Rivals is just around the corner, bringing the final launch of the much-awaited 6v6 hero shooter to excited fans. The multiplayer title goes live globally on December 6, 2024, at 0:00 UTC. This will allow fans to partake in heated PvP skirmishes with their favorite Marvel hero or villain.

Developed by NetEase Games, Rivals is the studio's spin on the Marvel Universe as it tells an all-new multiverse-spanning story with all-new hero designs. The villainous Doctor DOOM meets his heroic 2099 counterpart, resulting in an event called the Timestream Entanglement, which results in time-space anomalies.

This allows iconic Marvel heroes and villains to fight against one another in a bid to stop the two Doctor DOOMs before things get messier. Much of this falls under lore details. Marvel Rivals is a third-person PvP game where two teams of six players face off against one another for victory across different game modes.

Similar to Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch games, the Marvel Rivals character roster comprises characters belonging to three classes — Vanguard (Tank), Duelist (DPS), and Strategist (Support).

From iconic names like Hulk, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Captain America, to more niche ones like Magik, Squirrel Girl, Moon Knight, and Iron Fist, the roster includes over 30 characters, each with distinct abilities and playstyles.

The game will be free to play across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
