Marvel Rivals is the latest free-to-play hero shooter on the market, featuring some of the most iconic characters and locations from comics and films. Players can take on the roles of their favorite superheroes, such as Thor, Loki, Venom, Iron Man, and Moon Knight. With the entry of this game into the market, it has to compete with existing free-to-play hero shooters like Valorant.
Valorant has been out for a few years and has cemented its place as one of the best multiplayer games of all time. While both titles belong to the same genre, they still have plenty of differences that make them unique in their own right. Five differences between Marvel Rivals vs Valorant
1) Camera perspective
Marvel's latest hero shooter uses a third-person camera that is placed right behind the chosen character during gameplay. This allows the player to have a clear view of their character at all times along with the various equipped cosmetics.
Valorant on the other hand uses a first-person camera perspective that focuses on immersing the player in the gameplay. This helps the player step into the shoes of the character they have chosen without restricting the view of the battlefield during gameplay.
2) Characters
Valorant features a huge roster that was originally made for the game. The characters you see on the menu have unique personalities, allowing players to choose the one that resonates with them the most.
Marvel Rivals on the other hand uses pre-established characters from the films and comics. They already have a huge fan base that eliminates the need for establishing the personality of the roster as players can just select the characters they have been a fan of for the longest time.
3) Character abilities
Marvel Rivals features a roster in which characters have their powers tied to their comic-book counterparts. This means that the roster uses special abilities that they are known for in the comics, such as Spider-Man using web shooters and Doctor Strange using portals.
On the other hand, Valorant features characters that rely on guns and tactical advantages to win their battles. The heavy usage of what loadout you choose when entering a match can make a huge difference.
4) Map design
The maps in Marvel Rivals have been inspired by comics and films which makes the locations feel familiar. However, the environments are destructable which changes the map significantly depending on how much damage you cause.
On the other side, Valorant includes map designs that are original and created just for the game. These locations have not been inspired from anywhere and feature enough room for the characters to hide and run around.
5) Competitive scene
Marvel Rivals is the most recent entry in the hero shooter genre which means it has a smaller community compared to games like Valorant. With a community that is still in its growing stage, it will take time for the game to enter a competitive scene.
Valorant on the other hand has been around for a few years and has become a huge part of tournaments. Players from around the world compete for a grand prize as the community is massive compared to Marvel Rivals which has just come out.
