Marvel's Spider-Man 2 boss guide: How to easily defeat Kraven the Hunter

Marvel's Spider-Man 2, much like its predecessors, is jam-packed with engaging and exciting boss fights. Although the game's main story primarily focuses on two of the most well-known characters from Spider-Man's rogues gallery — Kraven and Venom, there are plenty of other iconic villains, including but not limited to Mysterio, Chameleon, and more.

However, despite the vast array of villains and enemy types in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, none compare to the sheer spectacle and challenge posed by its main baddy, Kraven the Hunter. You get a slight taste of what he brings in terms of combat via his henchmen.

However, the actual boss fight(s) against Kraven is something else entirely. You essentially get to fight him twice, using two different characters. Although Kraven the Hunter isn't superhuman, he is skilled in close-quarters combat, making him just as deadly as some of Spider-Man's superpowered foes.

Tips to easily defeat Kraven the Hunter in Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Since Kraven the Hunter is one of the main bosses in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, you only get to face him towards the tail end of the story. The mercurial huntsman appears multiple times throughout the game, but you fight him after getting the Symbiote suit and rescuing Dr. Connors, aka the Lizard.

To defeat Kraven, you must be extremely proficient with the game's combat system and especially Spider-Man's gadgets, abilities, and combat movesets. One of the most important elements of this boss fight is parrying his heavy attacks. To initiate a parry, press "L1" right before an enemy's attack lands.

You can also buffer the input for parry, but it's not as reliable as other action games. Furthermore, it's generally better to simply parry whenever you see the opportunity. Alternatively, you can avoid Kraven's heavy attacks by jumping or swinging out of the way, the latter is tougher to execute due to the limiting size of the boss fight arena.

Kraven's moveset, more or less, is quite similar to the Hunter Brutes you've fought in the Hunter Blinds (optional open-world activities). The best gadget that works against the hunter is the "Web Grabber." You can also stagger Kraven with Peter's Symbiote abilities.

However, it's essential not to waste them since they will be the primary means of dealing damage. After defeating Kraven as Peter, the former retreats only to return towards the end of the story. However, instead of fighting him as Spider-Man, you clash with the hunter as Venom.

As Venom, the boss fight against Kraven the Hunter is quite linear, mostly due to the limited moveset of the Symbiote compared to Spider-Man. However, the bout is still quite challenging, especially on difficulties above "Amazing." After facing defeat at the hands of Venom, Kraven finally meets his end as the Symbiote beheads him.
