Insomniac has integrated more content from the comic books to its most recent game, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, including numerous renowned villains. The original title introduced us to several characters from the web-slinger's rogue's gallery, including Rhino, Doctor Octopus, and Scorpion. Spider-Man 2 brings more to the table, notably the famous black symbiote Venom.
From the promo, it was evident that Venom would play an essential role in the game, and now that it has finally been released, it appears the black symbiote is not the only one of its kind.
Players will encounter a few other alien parasites in the game, whether by references or as an enemy, including the Marvel supervillain Scream. She plays a small yet crucial role during one of the last chapters of the game.

Everything you need to know about Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Scream cameo
The newest superhero game from Insomniac is an amazing story of love, friendship, and passing the torch. A title such as this would obviously be incomplete without a supervillain, so the studio wisely chose to include Venom, one of Spider-Man's archenemies, as the game's main antagonist.
Players can also meet a few of Venom's spawn, such as Carnage and Scream. However, only Carnage keeps his host the same as in the comics. Both Venom and Scream have hosts that are different from their comics counterparts. Instead of Eddie Brock, Venom's host is Harry Osbourne.
In the game's later stages, Scream enters the picture in one of the boss fights. Spider-Man is hunting for Harry after he regains control of the Venom symbiote and goes on a rampage throughout the city. Meanwhile, Peter's girlfriend, Mary Jane, receives a call from The Daily Bugle.
The chief editor of the Bugle, J Jonah Jameson, offers MJ a promotion, and after their meeting ends, Peter calls her. While sharing the good news with him, Mary Jane hears the doorbell ring and goes to answer it. Peter warns her about Harry, but it is too late as the latter has already appeared at MJ's doorstep. Spider-Man sprints toward the house after realizing the danger his girlfriend is in.
When Peter eventually gets there, he tries to reason with Harry and asks him to let MJ go, but the latter, under Venom's influence, infects her with a symbiote, thus turning her into Scream. Peter will next engage in a boss battle in an effort to free MJ from the symbiote's control.
Tips to defeat Scream in Marvel's Spider-Man 2
Scream offers one of the most challenging fights in the game. She deals a lot of damage and has four phases that you have to clear to beat her. You also need to have a good understanding of the parrying mechanic as she relentlessly attacks you.
Let's review a few tricks you can use to defeat this yellow symbiote:
- Her first phase is relatively easy. Avoid her attacks or parry them and hit her back.
- She does a sweeping attack with her hair. Your best option is to jump and avoid it.
- After you beat her first phase, Scream will become more aggressive and quickly attack you. The key is to be able to stagger her.
- There will be cars and other objects present during the boss battle that you can use to create sounds to stun her. Developer Insomniac has taken note of the symbiotes being weak to vibration and sound.
After you defeat Scream, Peter and Mary Jane reunite in a heartwarming scene.
It is evident with the presence of Venom and his spawns that Insomniac is trying to introduce the symbiote family slowly and is cooking something big. We could likely see the alien parasites in the next Spider-Man title or a DLC for the latest game, although that's merely speculation.
Another thing to remember is that Insomniac is also leading the development of the upcoming Wolverine game. Hopefully, players can see more of Venom or Carnage during that title's story.
