Mel in League of Legends: Abilities and playstyle explained

Passive (Searing Brilliance)

Whenever Mel uses an ability, she gains three bonus projectiles (up to nine maximum) on her next attack. When she inflicts damage through an ability or attack, she applies Overwhelm, which can stack infinitely. They are executed if the stacked Overwhelm amount exceeds the enemy's combined shields and health.

Q (Radiant Volley)

Mel fires a barrage of nine projectiles that explode in the area around a target location. Each explosion deals 24 magic damage, adding up to 212 magic damage total.

W (Rebuttal)

Mel forms a barrier around herself that reflects enemy projectiles. It prevents her from incurring damage and gives her 30% decaying Move Speed for one second. The reflected projectiles deal 41% of the original damage as magic damage.

E (Solar Snare)

Mel fires a radiating orb, rooting enemies at its center for 1.75 seconds and dealing 69 magic damage. The orb builds up a hostile area around it that slows enemies by 30% and deals 17 magic damage per second.

R (Golden Eclipse)

Mel strikes all enemies marked with Overwhelm regardless of their distance from her, dealing additional damage for each stack of Overwhelm. Ranks of Golden Eclipse increase Overwhelm's damage.

  • Passive: Overwhelm damage is increased to 80 magic damage plus three magic damage per stack.
  • Active: Mel unleashes her power on all enemies affected by Overwhelm, dealing 132 magic damage plus 4 magic damage per Overwhelm stack.

Notably, the ability cannot be cast when an enemy champion is not affected by Overwhelm.
