Metaphor ReFantazio pits the player against both Glodell and his infernal dog, Hector, while the protagonist and Junah explore Louis’ vessel. Glodell was already frustrated with the player’s party, having made him look like a fool more than once. Finally having enough, the purple-haired antagonist forces the issue, and a boss fight ensues. Thankfully, you don’t have to fight one on two since Junah awakens to her Archetype right before the battle.

The Glodell and Hector fight can be challenging in Metaphor ReFantazio, but if you’ve taken the time to build up several Archetypes and leveled up, he won’t be the threat he thinks he is. If you’re stumbling against Glodell, here are some tips to help.

Tips for defeating Glodell and Hector in Metaphor ReFantazio

At first, you do have to fight Glodell’s dog Hector alone in Metaphor ReFantazio. After taking a few hits from the dog, a cutscene will play, and the player will realize that Glodell, as one of the contenders for the throne, has the King’s Blessing. However, he made a mistake in agreeing to a duel - now the King’s Blessing will no longer aid him.

Junah will awaken to the Masked Dancer Archetype, which can put on masks to utilize a wide assortment of abilities - ultimately it leads to the Persona Master Archetype as well, which is one of the best in the game.

Hector is weak to Wind, so use Cyclo on him to deal tons of damage during the boss fight in Metaphor ReFantazio. We focused down Hector first, using Wind and Holy damage - though he’s only weak to the Wind attacks. Hector does have some decent melee strikes, and Glodell can also heal him with Mage Salvation for about 300 or so health. The dog isn’t powerful, so focus it down first.

While Hector was weak to wind, Glodell is weak to Holy, making Cleric the perfect choice. I picked that in case I needed to heal, but it turns out that it was the perfect counter to Glodell’s attacks. His melee strikes are mediocre at best, though and none of his attacks are particularly deadly. Giant Slice hits one person, for a small amount of damage.

It turns out, Glodell and Hector are really all bark and no bite. Their attacks don’t hit very hard, and you aren’t in any real threat of danger from them, even with just two party members. Once you’ve bested him, retreat from the ship and get back to the party with nobody the wiser. That’s all it takes to wrap up this important section of Atlus’ latest hit RPG.
