Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Rita's Rewind is bringing the original five “Teenagers with attitudes” back for the video game we fans wanted from the very beginning. An epic trailer was revealed during Summer Game Fest showing up to a five-player co-op, where monsters from the original series of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers show up to do battle with the Power Rangers once again.

The trailer showed that it’s more than just side-scrolling combat, though - there are also going to be rail shooter levels, and best of all, an appearance of the Megazord. After Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge proved the popularity of this genre isn’t dead yet, Digital Eclipse and Hasbro came together to create magic with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Rita's Rewind.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Rita's Rewind could single-handedly make up for the series of mediocre MMPR/Super Sentai games fans have had to endure over the years. Some of them were okay, but many more were frankly, appalling. This trailer had fans of the series all over the internet elated about the possibilities.

Set during the events of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, players got a glimpse of another Rita Repulsa coming through a portal - none other than Robo-Rita, who sent herself back in time to overcome the Rangers once and for all.

It’s going to be up to the original five: Jason, Billy, Kimberly, Zack, and Trini, to do battle with Goldarr, the Putty Patrol, and a series of familiar bosses from the early days of the franchise. At least three known villains have appeared in the trailer: Bones, Eye Guy, and Crabby Cabbie. It appears to at least go through the arrival of Lord Zedd, because Tenga were spotted in the trailer.

From driving stages, and side-scrolling beat 'em ups, to a first-person battle with Eye Guy as the MegaZord, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Rita's Rewind offers a wide variety of stage types for long-time fans of the franchise. Unfortunately, there isn’t a release date, but it will be dropping in 2024, according to Steam.

Perhaps the best part of the game is that all five Rangers can show up on the screen at the same time and play online co-op in a Power Rangers game. Whether riding a roller coaster, driving at high speeds, or simply leaping across rooftops to pummel Putties, it’s clear the designers understand what makes the franchise so popular and endearing.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Rita's Rewind will be available later in 2024 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. It features an original storyline, that will feel both familiar and new.
