The CS2 community has had numerous complaints about the game. One of the most persistent issues players face seems to be with hit registration. This refers to the game's ability to accurately detect the impact of your fired shots on the target. Issues in this aspect of the game can arise due to many reasons, including network and connectivity problems.
Reddit user u/glaR3gmaing shared a clip from their gameplay, showing a bizarre altercation where the player missed their shot and yet, somehow still got the frag.

Drawing parallels from their own experience with the game, u/RandomCitizen_16 agreed, further detailing the nature of the issue they face:
"Same thing also happens to me all the time. When I tap perfectly I doesn't register. But if I shoot all over the place, most of the time I know that I missed my shot, however, I still get the headshot somehow."
Another Redditor, u/NoNameeDD shared their experience with similar incidents. They spoke about how they would fire perfect shots and somehow miss. Yet, sometimes, randomly fired bullets would score them a headshot.
They said:
"Happens to me all the time both ways. Sometimes I just know I'm spraying/tapping perfectly and nothing. And sometimes I just hit randomly somewhere on the screen and I get same result as yours. Dunno CS2 hitreg is bad."
Meanwhile, u/itamarvr46 believed that CS2 was not ready when it was released. They claimed that some functions, such as matchmaking and anti-cheat, which act as the core of a competitive game, were just not polished enough, especially for a game of this stature.
While many Redditors in the comments were upset about the hit registration problem, some CS2 players, like u/SilverWave1, believed that the issue shown in the clip wasn't as bad as some other things they've witnessed in the game.
Finally, u/zHexible felt that CS2 had a lot more potential than CS: GO. However, if Valve doesn't pay enough attention to the game, things could quickly go sideways.
Is the sub-tick system a problem in CS2?
Several comments under the post pointed out how the sub-tick system isn't as effective as intended in Counter-Strike 2. Previously, CS:GO used to operate on a 64-tick rate system. This meant that the servers would update the game 64 times per second. This changed with the sub-tick system and players are not happy with it.
The CS2 community disliking the sub-tick system is a known issue. Unfortunately, it hasn't been addressed by Valve. More importantly, going back to the old tick rate would be a big move and would take a lot of time to execute if Valve ever decides to change things back to the CS:GO days.
