When can you pre-load Monster Hunter Wilds?
According to the pre-order page for Monster Hunter Wilds on the PlayStation 5, the game will be available to pre-load on February 26, 2025, at midnight local time. Do note that the February 26, 2025, pre-download date is for consoles only. As for PC, if Capcom's past releases are any indication, pre-loads for Wilds should go live roughly 24 hours ahead of launch.
Furthermore, pre-loading is only available for players who pre-order Monster Hunter Wilds on their platforms of choice. Pre-loads essentially allow you to download the majority of the game's files, and keep them ready for launch. So, while pre-loading (much like pre-orders) is completely optional, it is something to consider if you don't have incredibly fast internet speeds. That way, once the game is released, you don't have to wait for it to download before you can start playing.
Furthermore, Capcom has already confirmed that the upcoming Monster Hunter will require more than 100GB of storage. According to the game's PC system requirements, Wilds will require roughly 140GB of SSD storage. Downloading that much data, especially on a limited bandwidth, can easily take hours. This is where pre-loading comes to the rescue, allowing you to download most of the game more than 24 hours ahead of the official release date.
You might need to download a small day-one patch upon release. But once that is done, you're all set to start playing the game on your preferred platform.
Monster Hunter Wilds is a direct follow-up to Monster Hunter World, which to this day, is the best-selling title under Capcom's umbrella. So, to say that this upcoming title is highly anticipated would be an understatement. As is the case with any mainline Monster Hunter game, there's overwhelming hype surrounding the latest entry in the iconic action RPG series.
It remains to be seen whether the game ends up surpassing its predecessor(s) or not, when it releases worldwide on February 28, 2025.
