How to pre-order Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns
As of writing, pre-orders are only live for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The PC version of the expansion is yet to go live on Steam and the Epic Games Store. However, since it's a DLC for Mortal Kombat 1, prices will be the same across all platforms. Additionally, the Nintendo Switch version of the DLC is also available for pre-order.
However, given the state of the Nintendo Switch release, it's best to avoid getting that version of the game, let alone any DLC or expansion for it. That being said, here's how you can pre-order Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns on PlayStation and Xbox:
PlayStation 5
- Go to the PlayStation Store on your PS5 console and head to the Pre-orders section.
- Browse the section until you see Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns.
- Alternatively, you can browse the Add-ons section if you have the base game installed on your console.
- Once you land on the game's store page, choose whether you want to buy the Khaos Reigns expansion or the Khaos Reigns Bundle, and proceed to make the payment.
- Thereafter, the DLC will be added to your library.
Xbox Series X/S
- Go to the Xbox Store and search for Mortal Kombat.
- Browse through the search results until you find Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns.
- Select your preferred bundle and proceed to payment and checkout.
- Once you complete the payment for the game, it will be added to your library.
Do note that since it's a DLC, there likely won't be any pre-load for Khaos Reigns. Additionally, neither the expansion nor the bundle comes with the base game and you will need to purchase the latter separately.
Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns bundles and prices
Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns is scheduled to be released on September 24, 2024. Much like the Aftermath expansion for the previous title in the Mortal Kombat series, Khaos Reigns isn't a standalone experience. Instead, it's built as an expansion, albeit with a new story that takes place immediately after the ending of the base game.
Given it's an expansion, it's priced at $49.99, which not only includes the new story chapters but also the Kombat Pack 2. Additionally, for players who might not have bought the Premium Edition of the base game or the first Kombat Pack, there's also the Khaos Reigns Bundle.
That being said, here's a breakdown of the two versions of Khaos Reigns available for pre-order:
Khaos Reigns Expansion ($49.99)
- Khaos Reigns Story chapters
- Kombat Pack 2
Khaos Reigns Bundle ($59.99)
- Khaos Reigns Story chapters
- Kombat Pack 2
- Kombat Pack 1 (Instant access)
There are also a few pre-order incentives to getting the Khaos Reigns ahead of its release, these include the following skins:
- Wedding Scorpion
- Sub-Zero (Mortal Kombat 3)
- Empress Mileena
- Classic ninja skin (Noob Saibot)
Purchasing the Khaos Reigns Bundle gives you instant access to the Kombat Pack 1 and all the playable characters in it. Do note that if you've already purchased Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition, you only need to buy the expansion and not the bundle since you already own the Kombat Pack 1.
