Defending champion NIP Flash has maintained its number one spot after performing a clean sweep on HomeBois SG during MPL Singapore Season 8 Week 2.

In its match against HomeBois SG, NIP Flash once again demonstrated its championship caliber and strategic acumen. Similar to Season 7, the team deployed the unconventional tactic of fielding a new starting lineup and opting for unorthodox hero picks.

NIP Flash went on to dismantle HomeBois SG in just nine minutes and two seconds, breaking the MPL Singapore Regular Season record for fastest game, previously set by EVIL and RSG SG in Season 3 at 10 minutes and 13 seconds.

The adjusted starting lineup saw Adam "Adammir" Chong in the EXP Lane instead of captain, Yeo "Diablo" Wee Lun, and substituted Akihiro "JPL" Furusawa for Bellamy "Lolsie" Yeo in the Roam position. The MPL Singapore casters were left further stunned when NIP Flash placed Mid Laner, Jankurt "KurtTzy" Matira, on Fanny, a hero typically reserved for the Jungle, and Gold Laner, Keith "Vanix" Lim on Valentina, a hero usually played in the Mid Lane.

Meanwhile, EVIL comfortably holds second place, trailing NIP Flash by just one point after victories over RSG SG and Rift Esports. The team has become a formidable title contender, thanks to the addition of Filipino imports Gold Laner Mark "Markyyyyy" Capacio and Jungler Bien "Boyet" Chumecera, the latter was named MVP of Week 1.

In a post-match interview, Markyyyy voiced his enthusiasm for the upcoming matchup against NIP Flash, aiming to outdo the current champions. He also acknowledged his admiration for fellow Gold Laner, Vanix, whose impressive performances at the recent Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024 have grabbed his attention.
On the other hand, former champions, RSG SG, stay wedded to the bottom of the table, having earned a single point against EVIL this past weekend. With the bottom two teams doomed for relegation, RSG SG also faces the pressure of climbing up the table to secure a spot in the Playoffs.
