MTG 2025

MTG has some truly fascinating expansions coming in 2025. Wizards of the Coast revealed the full catalog of currently in-development content for next year. This could change and shift as the months go on. While it does feature a Secret Lair product, it won’t be the only one this year. This list is focused on the product that was announced today.

Many of these products have specific release dates, but others are kept a bit vague — including one that doesn’t have a name to reveal yet. Nonetheless, 2025 will be an exciting time not just for Magic: The Gathering fans, but for Final Fantasy fans as well.

All known expansions coming to MTG in 2025

MTG has quite a few products coming in 2025, and while this likely isn’t the full extent of it, we do have an idea of what the major expansions will be. From remasters, returning to familiar settings, or simply epic crossovers that fans have always wanted, 2025 is already looking to be a banner year for Wizards of the Coast.

  • Innistrad Remastered: January 24, 2025
  • Aetherdrift: February 14, 2025
  • Tarkir: Dragonstorm: April 4, 2025
  • Magic: The Gathering - Final Fantasy: June 13, 2025
  • Edge of Eternities: August 1, 2025

Innistrad Remastered, for example, is exactly what you expect it to be — the most memorable cards from the Innistrad setting back in one collection. It’s unknown if it will be the full Innistrad block. I imagine it will cover the whole ground of the Innistrad expansions. Get ready for Wolf decks to return to MTG in 2025!

Aetherdrift is a really interesting concept — it somewhat reminds me of Wacky Racers meets Death Race. In a two-color deck-themed set, players will be able to pick racers from a variety of races, as they vie for the finish line and claim the Aetherspark Trophy.

Tarkir: Dragonstorm takes fans back to the familiar plane, but with some important facets to keep note of. Factionalized clans, and gameplay, and more Dragons than ever before. Dragons are literally pouring out through Dragonstorms on Tarkir. We also have confirmation that both Ugin and Sarkhan will be returning.

However, the set that is most important to me is Magic: The Gathering - FINAL FANTASY. Each mainline Final Fantasy game will be a part of this MTG — sorry, Tactics and Mystic Quest fans, I don’t know if you’ll get representation. We also know that this set will be playable in MTG Arena.

On that note, there's also Magic: The Gathering | Marvel's Spider-Man. It's the first in a multi-year crossover with Marvel and will be a tentpole booster set. If it's Universes Beyond, perhaps we'll also get Commander decks too.

Edge of Eternities is a brand-new setting for MTG, a science-fantasy scenario set outside the Multiverse, bordering the entirety of the Blind Eternities. The story follows a group of salvagers exploring Sothera, a galaxy centered around a slowly collapsing star.

Other than the unknown Universes Beyond release coming to MTG in 2025, there’s also a SpongeBob SquarePants Secret Lair on the way. All we know is that it’s releasing sometime next year. It’s a very exciting time to be a Magic: The Gathering fan.
