Flopping is when a player exaggerates contact in the hope of drawing a foul. In NBA 2K25, it’s a MyCareer exclusive feature that allows your MyPlayer to collapse dramatically on the floor after what seems like minor or no contact.
This animation is extremely funny when it occurs in the game, which can break up some intensity of the play. However, it sometimes serves a minor strategic advantage by disrupting the rhythm of your opponent.

How to flop in NBA 2K25
Unlike older versions of NBA 2K, where you could simply double-tap the B button (or Circle on PlayStation) to flop, NBA 2K25 requires a bit more setup. Here’s a quick guide to flopping in MyCareer mode:
1) Purchase the flop animation:
- Buy the flop animation for your MyPlayer. In MyCareer, go to Animations from the menu.
- Head to the Animations Store, and navigate to In-Game Celebrations.
- From there, you’ll find the flop animation under NBA Pro-AM Standing or Park Standard. The flop animation costs 100 VC. Buy it by paying the amount.
2) Equip the flop animation:
- Once purchased, go to the Gameplay Animations tab.
- Equip the flop animation in both the NBA Pro-AM Standing and Park Standard categories.
3) Execute the flop in-game:
- Now that you’ve got the flop animation equipped, you can activate it in-game.
- Simply press the down directional button on your controller to trigger the flop animation at any time during the game, whether on offense or defense.

Why use the flop in NBA 2K25?
While flopping is mostly just for fun, it can also help in certain situations. On defense, a well-timed flop can force the referees to call a charging foul on your opponent.
However, it’s important to note that the effectiveness of a flop in 2K25 is mostly cosmetic, meaning it won’t guarantee you a foul. Still, it’s a great way to lighten the mood, especially in casual or Pro-Am games with friends.
Although it does not serve a strategic purpose in the same manner as it once did, it's still a lot of fun in that it allows you to play the game in a rather lighthearted way.
Whether it is trying to deceive your opponent or just having fun, learning how to flop gives you yet another tool by which you are expressing your players' personality on the court.
