Apex Legends Season 22 brought a lot of significant changes to most character classes in the game, including an enemy highlight feature for the Recon class. The developers seem to have adopted a new route to increase legend pick rates by tweaking some of the existing perks for the roster. Likewise, Crypto received a significant buff which helps players go invisible when operating the drone to scout nearby areas.
The change soon caught the community's attention, which resulted in a surge of Crypto players in both casual and ranked lobbies. From the looks of it, this could be the start of a new meta-team composition for EA’s battle royale title.
This article will highlight the potential Crypto meta in Apex Legends for Season 22.

Why is Crypto potentially the best meta pick in Apex Legends Season 22?
Crypto received a crucial buff to his Blue Shield upgrade perk, called Off the Grid, which enables the user to become permanently invisible when operating the drone directly. However, this camouflage wears off once the player exits out of the drone or recalls it. The devs also reduced the cooldown for the aerial gadget down to 30 from 40 seconds.
The latest update balanced the perks for this Recon legend and could help players find new playstyles. Moreover, the Purple Shield upgrade perk also received a smaller buff that helps the drone scan anyone who gets hit by the ultimate ability. All of these upgrades combined can make Crypto a very powerful rival in almost every combat scenario.

Squads can now take charge and act on the information provided by Crypto faster as no one needs to defend their scout while the drone is being used. The new perk essentially makes the character less vulnerable to enemy ambushes.
Apart from Crypto, the recent changes buffed the Controller class legends. This will likely increase the pick rate of Wattson on maps like E-District as her ultimate ability can destroy explosives and recharge shields for all squad members. Fortunately, Crypto is a direct counter to this pick as his ultimate, Drone EMP, destroys Wattson’s Pylon.
Apex Legends Season 22 also brought the complete removal of aim flinch which can potentially help players spray in full-auto mode more effectively. Additionally, the aim assist strength was reduced considerably to create a fair playing field.

Although Crypto has a slight learning curve, it can be mastered with some grind. One of the most important things that players need to practice is positioning while playing this Recon class character.
The entire ability kit for this legend helps players scout out enemies and clear corners for safe repositioning. The ultimate should be used to initiate and disorient enemy teams as it can help players score quick squad wipes in Apex Legends.
