New battle pass Crypto skin in Apex Legends nerfs him to the ground

It is a well known fact that the new Crypto buff at the starting of Apex Legends Season 22 made his pick rate skyrocket in the previous split. The new buff was introduced to the players as a perk which players can choose after they level up their EVO Shield to level 2 that allows the players to go invisible when they are controlling the drone.

This allowed players to play and master a unique playstyle that proved to be quite impactful in every fight. However, after the second split’s release, the developers introduced and implemented a new set of battle passes including a brand new skin for Crypto which can be acquired by the players who own the Ultimate+ version of the pass. Since all Ultimate+ character skins boast a unique design it is quite normal for players wanting to add it to their collection.

Soon after the battle pass’s release, it has come to light that the hologram effect feature of the Crypto skin in Apex Legends does not work with his invisibility. This means, when Crypto is controlling his drone, the character will become invisible as per the EVO perk. However, the hologram effect of the skin will still remain visible to all players, allowing them to know his location as he controls the drone in the matter of a few moments.

This renders Crypto useless in various ways in the battlefield and he cannot be as effective as he is when using other skins in Apex Legends. Therefore, players who want to look good while dominating the Apex Games arena must use another skin. Moreover, since players must pay an additional sum of money to unlock the Ultimate+ section of the battle pass, it is safe to say that the skin is pay-to-lose.
