New CS2 update details leaked: New operation, maps, case, keychains, and more

The upcoming CS2 update may just be the biggest and most exciting one in the game's history. Leaks and rumors from popular sources, such as Ozzny and Gabe Follower on X, suggest multiple new maps for various modes in the game. This includes maps for the Wingman, Arms Race, and Competitive modes. Moreover, new cosmetics such as keychains are also reportedly coming with the CS2 update, along with a potential new Operation that may be unveiled soon.

A few Counter-Strike 2 sources have leaked info about a massive update around the 25th Anniversary of the franchise. Here's what the leaks have revealed.

Major new CS2 update to bring new maps and cosmetics to the game

The new CS2 update that may be well on its way was first leaked by popular CS2 leaker Gabe Follower on X. On June 15, the leaker claimed that Valve may be working on clothing skins and keychains for a new update.

However, another popular leaker, Ozzny, predicted the coming of an update on or around June 19, 2024, which happens to be the 25th anniversary of the Counter-Strike franchise.

The leaked update involves a new case, maps, keychains, and potentially new cosmetics as well. The maps include the following:

• Thera (Santorini)
• Memento
• Assembly
• Pool Day
• Mills

Out of these maps, Thera, Memento, and Mills are all Classic maps with Memento also being a Wingman map. Meanwhile, Assembly is a Wingman map and Pool Day is an Arms Race map.

Keychains and clothing skins

Gabe Follower also began uploading information about Keychains. These would be attached to weapons in the game and stand out as separate cosmetics. To show their followers what they might look like, the leaker even provided a concept image on their X handle.

Code in the game's files also revealed the potential development of these cosmetics. Along with keychains, the leaker also predicted clothing skins in the new CS2 update.

New Case

Finally, yet another popular CS2 leaker source Aquarius confirmed that a new case was certainly in the works and that fans could expect it to be released with other items.

Ozzny even predicted the potential arrival of a new Operation, however, Valve has not confirmed this just yet. If all the leaks are accurate, the addition of so much new content from maps to cosmetics certainly points in the direction of a new Operation.

This new CS2 update may be the biggest this version of the game has witnessed so far, and it makes sense for it to drop on or around the anniversary of the franchise.

Previously, on the 20th anniversary of the franchise, Valve released a new case and capsule for the special occasion (as pointed out by Ozzny). The same happening once again would not be surprising. In fact, this is the perfect time to do it.
