Apex Legends Season 23 Split 2 introduced the EPG-1 as a mythic tier weapon available through Rift Relics. It is a powerful explosives launcher with almost no bullet drop and can deal splash damage while allowing players to rocket-jump. This is an interesting approach and can make some characters from EA's battle royale title very strong.

The EPG-1 can inflict massive damage on enemies with direct hits and dish out splash damage to enemies in the vicinity if a direct hit is missed. However, the ability to speed boost can create some lethal combos that can be used to wipe out entire squads.

This article will highlight Apex Legends' new overpowered EPG-1 weapon in Season 23 Split 2.

Which characters are best to use with EPG-1 in Apex Legends?

Lifeline, after the recent rework, gained the ability to glide in the air for a short duration. This can be combined with EPG-1’s explosive damage output in Apex Legends to take out opponents from the sky with ease. Fans can also choose to get creative and utilize map features like Gravity Cannons and Jump Towers to get to a greater height before flying down and raining down explosive shells with the new mythic weapon.

Horizon is another effective combo that you can choose to pick. Her ultimate ability almost guarantees that anyone caught in the Black Hole will get eliminated with the EPG-1. If you perfect your timing, you can potentially catch all three members and score a squad wipe within seconds.

Octane is a fun character that can make use of the rocket jumps from the new rift weapon. You can combine the Jump Pad with the EPG-1 to scale a massive distance. The trick is quite straightforward, as you would need to shoot the weapon on the pad immediately after you hit it and start lunging forward. This will provide you with an insane super jump that you can use to quickly relocate from one point to another.

The EPG-1 can also be used with Pathfinder’s grapple ability, but it is difficult to pull off as you cannot use weapons while the animation is active. So you would have to let go of the grapple and perfectly time the blast to get further.

All characters in the game can use the rocket jump trick with the new weapon to gain a speed boost — be it to get a higher-than-usual jump or to move further horizontally. The same can be done with Pathfinder, where you would first take advantage of the rocket jump and then grapple away to maximize distance.
