Several passive abilities are set to release along with the upcoming Overwatch 2: Hacked game mode

During the recent Overwatch 2 Q&A, the Lead Game Designer, Alec Dawson stated that he along with his team are currently working on various passive abilities which will likely roll out with the upcoming Hacked game mode on July 15, 2024. As suggested by Alec during the Q&A, the DPS passive roles will likely allow the latter to have additional ammo or have a vision to see the adversaries with critical HP through walls.

Both of the aforementioned passives can be significantly useful to the DPS Heroes. Having more ammo in the magazine can be beneficial for them. The ability to see the enemies through the wall is a double-edged sword; it will help you get more eliminations but may make you only focus on the low HP opponents while your team is fighting on the other side of the map.

Additionally, Alec has further stated that players will be able to switch their passive abilities during a match each time they get eliminated, similar to switching a Hero. Since there will be multiple passives, it will be quite interesting to see players counter-pick them while also picking Heroes in the middle of a game to outplay the opponents.

Apart from the DPS Heroes, the developers haven’t revealed what the passive abilities for Tank and Supports are. Hence, players will have to wait until the developers disclose more information regarding the passive abilities.
