Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is coming to PS5 on December 3, 2024. Fatshark officially announced the news a few hours ago, and the community is abuzz with hype and anticipation. More so, with the PS5 Pro having debuted on November 7, 2024, the game will be able to take advantage of the latest hardware.
FPS and performance boost will make Warhammer 40,000: Darktide all the more engaging. You, the player, will have a blast mowing down chaos agents and heretics in-game. Hopefully, this will be enough to inject new life into the game, as the current player base on Steam is rather slim.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on PS5 will bring in more of The Emperor's faithful
Although this brutal and unforgiving first-person co-op has taken over two years to arrive on PlayStation, the wait will be worth it, and with good reason. There is no denying that the game had a rocky debut on PC back in November 2022.
It wasn't unplayable by any means, but it wasn't quite well optimized even for high-end PCs. Fatshark did address these issues, and the game now runs as intended. The Xbox Series X/S debut occurred on October 4, 2023, and was a lot smoother.
Given that the game and developer have evolved over the past two years, it means that the launch on PlayStation will likely be a lot less rough than what it was on PC.
Taking the lessons learned and implementing them into the PS5 version of the game will be a massive step up. What's more, is that based on the trailer showcased by Fatshark, the PS5 launch will include all the latest content that has been added to the game over the past two years.
Rather than getting content in dribs and drabs, PlayStation users will get the whole nine yards on the launch date. Of course, this does mean that some players could get overwhelmed by it all, but it's better to have and not need than want and not have.
That being said, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide coming to PlayStation is going to inject new life into the game. With the 40k universe becoming evermore popular with each passing day (thanks to Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2's hype), console players will be looking to sink their controllers into more Warhammer-related content.
They won't be stepping into the shoes of noble Primaris Marines, but Rejects will do just fine for fighting the forces of Chaos (this is because they are expandable). Jokes aside, looking at the current state of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide in terms of active uses, a PS5 launch will be worth it.
More players means more funds Fatshark can put to use to further develop the game and future projects. Since they are the developer and publisher, revenue from sales will make a lot of difference in terms of sustainability. It will also allow PlayStation users to finally get a taste of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.
Veterans of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 (developed by Fatshark) on PlayStation will also be eager to experience Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on the console. They could in fact make up for most of the players on launch day. Of course, the setting and backdrop for both games are very different, but with the goal being to kill heretics, objectives remain the same.
That said, it will be interesting to see how things pan out for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide when it launches on PS5. Hopefully, everything goes according to plan and works as intended. As mentioned, with the 40k universe gaining popularity, Darktide is one of those games that deserves to be recognized by the fandom.
