A new Sigma animation cancel bug has made its way into Overwatch 2. Although the bug is not game-breaking, it is lethal for heroes with a low HP pool, such as Tracer and Widowmaker, and better yet, it can be easily executed. You can use it to spice up your matches while playing Sigma, as it allows you to deal a fair amount of damage against characters with a smaller HP pool.
On that note, let's look at the Sigma animation cancel bug in Overwatch 2.

The Reddit post above showcases the Sigma animation cancel bug in Overwatch 2. It further explains how to perfectly execute the bug every time just by pressing the primary fire button, which is the left mouse button for PC players, during the Accretion launch animation.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to perform the Sigma animation cancel bug:
- First, pick Sigma while in a match or Practice Range.
- Cast the Accretion and immediately hold your primary fire key bind.
- Doing so will cancel the Accretion animation while casting it and Sigma will immediately attack anyone in front of him with his Hyperspheres.
Since a direct hit from the Accretion deals a significant amount of damage, the follow-up Hypersphere attack is fairly lethal. When performed against characters with a smaller HP pool, they will immediately be eliminated. Although this bug is lethal, it has a high skill ceiling since plates will have to directly hit enemies with the Accretion projectile and follow up with Hyperspheres.

However, if this bug is intentional and implemented by the developers, it is a good change since it makes Sigma worth picking and can boost his pick rate. However, the developers haven’t commented on the matter. Thus, one can assume the Sigma animation cancel bug is unintentional and may get fixed in a future hotfix patch.
That said, if it's unintentional, developer Blizzard Entertainment should patch this bug soon to maintain the title’s competitive integrity and ensure every player gets a fair chance of winning their Competitive matches.
