The popular free-to-play battle royale, Apex Legends is currently in its seventeenth season, which is named "Arsenal". The latest season has brought promising changes to the game, including some quality-of-life updates, a unique legend called Ballistic, and a new long-term progression feature called weapon mastery which rewards players with skins after they master a gun.
Recently, Respawn Entertainment announced a price hike to the in-game currency called Apex Coins. In certain countries, after the change goes live, players will have to pay more to buy the same amount of coins they could've previously gotten for less.

From the beginning of the next month, the price of Apex Coins will increase in some countries. Canada and the United Kingdom are among the few notable nations that will see a price hike. The currencies that will not see any changes include:
- United States (USD)
- Europe (EUR)
- Japan (JPY)
- Hong Kong (HKD)
- India (INR)
- Ukraine (UAH)
- United Arab Emirates (AED)
- Vietnam (VND)
Publishers have cited the changing economic conditions of the world as the reason for this hike. It has also been mentioned in the blog post that some countries can expect the price to be reduced to balance prices across all regions.
"We will occasionally reevaluate global pricing due to changing economic conditions and have decided to adjust prices for Apex Legends. For currencies that will see price increases, the team worked to ensure that the price increases for Apex Legends were fair and in line with economic conditions."
Players should note that the price of Apex Legends cosmetics, such as weapon and legend skins, will not increase, and the change will only impact real money transactions for Apex Coins. The publishers have not stated the exact percentage of the increase or decrease.
The change is scheduled to start rolling out on all platforms at 2 am PT and be fully live by 10 am PT on June 1st. Simultaneously, the in-game event called Threat Level will be live. Those who plan to purchase Apex Coins from the regions where a price hike is expected can go through with their transactions before the change goes live to save money.
