Apex Legends started off the second split of Season 21 with a fresh collection event and some new bugs that seem to have emerged after the update was deployed. The latest Playlist Expired bug occurs in-game after your entire squad has been eliminated in a match. If you try to start the matchmaking process for another match while spectating the ongoing game, the queue option will be disabled.

The only choice you have is to exit the match and find a new one from the lobby screen. This article highlights the Playlist Expired bug in Apex Legends Season 21.

Apex Legends re-queue option disabled with new Playlist Expired bug

Re-queuing is a fairly recent feature that the developers initially tested on the casual and Mixtape playlists. This accessibility option was ported over throughout the entire game after a while to increase the time a player spends in-game instead of on the lobby screen. It was a great change that quickly gained popularity, with the community eventually getting used to it.

The occurrence of the Playlist Expired bug after the June 25, 2024, mid-seasonal update for Season 21 has seemingly made it difficult to re-queue while spectating a match. This means that squads need to leave the game completely and click on Ready after reaching the lobby. The developers might already be aware of this issue and will likely deploy a permanent fix in the upcoming weeks.

The Playlist Expired bug seems to be ingrained in the game for the player base to encounter only when the current playlist moves out of rotation - be it maps, limited-time modes, or casual modes like Trios, Duos, Solos, and the latest Quads. But it has been plaguing the game after the update and requires you to constantly leave the match and queue up.

This does not seem to be an issue that can be fixed or worked around by the user. The root cause of this issue is unknown as Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have not provided any official announcements.
