New mobility feature ‘Horizontal Launcher’ for Apex Legends District map leaked

The primary map mobility features were initially limited in Apex Legends to simple stairs, ramps, and ziplines. It eventually evolved with Olympus’s rift portals and Storm Point’s Gravity Cannons. The most recent additions include Broken Moon’s Zip Rails and Vertical Jump Pads which made it easier to rotate around the map and safely make it inside the circle.

The exact function of Horizontal Launchers is currently unknown but we can make a few assumptions considering these would be added to the District map.

The upcoming map is supposed to be full of high-rise buildings and complex cityscapes with a lot of natural cover for squads to use. The new launchers might present a quicker way to jump from one building to another instead of using a zipline that could make players slow and easy targets.

Previously, the rumors of a four-seater Trident were also associated with the same map. If the developers ingrain these changes in the District map, it would be a major overhaul in map rotation. It would make traversing the battlefield easier with squads having more time to find their desired loadouts and items.

If Horizontal Launchers are used in place of ziplines, it would also help in initiating gunfights faster. Considering the present Gravity Cannons on Storm Point where a whole squad can use it, at the same time, the horizontal ones could potentially share the same feature. This would immediately eliminate the innate one-after-another problem in ziplines and allow teams to push or retreat together.

It is important to note that these are speculations based on the findings of dataminers and have not been officially confirmed by EA or Respawn Entertainment. The final release of the map may or may not contain this mobility feature as the publisher takes the final decision.
