Black Myth Wukong surpasses 1 million player count within hours after launch

Black Myth Wukong has surpassed the 1 million player count mark on Steam within hours of its global launch on August 20. At the time of writing, GameScience's ARPG has 1,249,525 players in-game. While there was little doubt that the Destined One's adventures would break records, the title's stellar review scores and enormous player count only further cement its potential.

Black Myth Wukong was released on PC and PS5 on August 20. It was also slated to arrive on Xbox Series X|S but the launch was indefinitely delayed to allow Game Science to further optimize the title. The game is not available on previous-gen consoles for now.

Black Myth Wukong's stellar launch puts it in Top 6 most played games on Steam

With a current all-time peak of around 1.25m for now, Black Myth Wukong comfortably sits in the top 6 of Steam's most-played games, crossing hugely popular titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, and Elden Ring. To date, only seven games have been able to post more than the 1 million player count mark on Steam.

Game Science's title will likely see a further uptick in the coming weekend after having launched late Monday night/early Tuesday morning. The work that the developers have put towards building the game, its combat, and the mythology definitely deserves attention and praise from players. On the other hand, Sportskeeda's review gave the title 9 out of 10, noting it as a new benchmark for modern ARPGs.
