Popular Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, in his third book, Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future Of Blizzard Entertainment, has reported that an Overwatch mobile game is in development under the purview of Blizzard Entertainment. News of this development has excited fans, as the introduction of a title like OW may pave the way for unique Hero shooters to join the competitive mobile gaming environment.

Let's take a more detailed look into what might be in the works with regard to the Overwatch mobile game.

Is Blizzard Entertainment releasing Overwatch mobile?

Overwatch might soon be coming to mobile devices. According to Jason Schreier, Walter Kong, who led the Overwatch 2 team, and oversaw the regular release of content into the game, has now been given the post of General Manager of Overwatch mobile.

In his book, Schreier confirms that:

"Overwatch was led by Walter Kong, who oversaw the release of regular heroes and content for Overwatch 2, as well as new projects like a mobile version of the franchise.”

The news of an Overwatch mobile title is great news for gamers as fans will soon be able to experience the thrill of their favorite hero-shooter on their handheld devices. While we do not have an official date for the game's release, we speculate that it will not surface across the Apple App Store, or the Android Play Store before 2025.

It is unknown whether this mobile version of the game will be an entirely new iteration of the fan-favorite title or a mere port of the current build of Overwatch 2. Other similar ports, such as COD Mobile, Warzone Mobile, and even PUBG Mobile have seen immense success in the mobile gaming scene, and we believe that a title like Overwatch might yield a similar reaction.

Players can expect the OG roster of Heroes to be part of this title and have access to at least 12 original characters during its launch. However, judging by how much the roster has grown till now, the game might feature a much bigger and more extensive list of playable characters upon release.
