In a surprise turn of events, 2K Games has officially announced Borderlands 4. The upcoming entry is the latest in Gearbox's iconic looter shooter franchise and will arrive on PC and consoles in 2025. It will succeed the events of 2019's Borderlands 3, following the controversial ending of the game - but how will things pan out from here onwards?

Borderlands 4 is in development for current-gen hardware, including PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. With the game being released sometime in 2025, fans still have some time before we get any concrete details about the game's story or see any gameplay footage.

We do have a hint at the core premise thanks to the game's official Steam page, but that won't surprise anyone who is even remotely familiar with the Borderlands franchise. Players will once again step into the shoes of the Vault Hunters, who must seek out powerful alien treasures while gathering powerful loot on an all-new adventure.

The teaser depicts the same moon that Lilith ascended to at the end of Borderlands 3, and with the incoming barrage of fiery meteors, she just may be coming back. Given the poor reception to New Tales from the Borderlands, it remains to be seen how Gearbox handles this new entry,
