With the most recent version 1.0 update, Darkest Dungeon 2 has finally been fully released on PC, and the RPG is no longer stuck in the Early Access period as many in the community thought it would be. While the developers are yet to provide any details on a console launch date, players who have purchased it on Steam and the Epic Games Store are having a great time tying out the new franchise entry.
Speaking of enjoying the game on Valve’s client, many in the community are also very curious regarding the title’s compatibility on the Steam Deck and if the handheld device will be able to run it.
While the Steam Deck is not completely compatible with Darkest Dungeon 2, it will, however, be able to run the game. Fortunately, those who are looking to enjoy the latest franchise entry on both their systems as well as Valve’s handheld gaming device will be able to do so.

How to play Darkest Dungeon 2 on the Steam Deck
To be able to play Darkest Dungeon 2 on the Steam Deck, players will be required to make use of the "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" as the RPG is not completely compatible with the device.
Hence to be able to play it on the Deck, players will need to,
- Have a Steam copy of the game purchased and then make their way to the Game Library section, select the title, and then download it. Once that is done, they will then need to Press the Settings button, which is a gear icon located to the extreme right.
- After dropping down an additional options box, they will need to select Properties and then make their way to Compatibility, located on the left pane. There they will need to checkmark and enable the "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" for the title.
- Once enabled, players will need to go back to the home page and launch Darkest Dungeon 2 on their Steam Deck. Button mapping might be all over the place, so that’s something that players will be required to look out for.
It is important to note that the current version of Darkest Dungeon 2, which is 1.0, does not support Cloud Save. While it will be making its way to the title soon, players will not be able to play the RPG on their PC and Steam Deck simultaneously.
