Chris Niosi's decision to step down from the role of Moze in Honkai Star Rail was announced on his official X handle, @kirbophober. The post reads:

"Monday morning, I asked my agent to let MiHoYo know that I have made the difficult decision to step down from the role of Moze in Honkai Star Rail."

The controversy started when HoYoverse unveiled Moze for the Honkai Star Rail 2.5 update and announced Chris Niosi as his VA. Understandingly, many fans started digging deeper and found a heap of allegations against him, ranging from misconduct to inappropriate behavior.

Among the most notable was a post from Tumblr, which allegedly came from the voice actor's ex-partner, who accused him of being manipulative and abusive.

It all came crashing down when people found out that Niosi had admitted to these allegations, meaning he was rightfully accused. Understandably, people wanted him removed from his role.

A few voice actors for the game stepped up to defend Niosi, namely Alejandro Saab (Jing Yuan's VA) and Griffen Puatu (Sunday's VA). The former, however, retracted his statement and apologized while streaming as his VTuber persona, CyYu.

Hoyoverse is yet to announce a replacement for Niosi, but fans are hoping that the developer does a proper background check before casting someone this time around.
