Five years after its initial release in 2019, Hideo Kojima's critically acclaimed work, Death Stranding, has finally made its way to the Xbox platform. Kojima Productions made the announcement on X right around the time the clock hit midnight in Japan marking five years since the game's launch. Death Stranding was previously locked to PC and PlayStation only, but now, Xbox fans can finally get their hands on the game, that too with a massive price drop.

With the developers celebrating the game's fifth anniversary, fans of Microsoft's console can finally enjoy the story of Sam Porter Bridges. With the sequel, Death Stranding 2, on the horizon, this is the best time to immerse yourself in the game's apocalyptic USA setting.

Xbox fans can finally step into the shoes of Sam Porter Bridges to explore the apocalyptic world of the United States while playing out the very prominent meme of being a deliveryperson. Originally exclusive to the PlayStation 4 platform, the game later arrived on the PC in 2020. Now, it is finally available on Microsoft's console.

The game was previously available on PC via Microsoft's Game Pass subscription, but not on the Xbox console itself. The critically acclaimed title's exclusivity deal for the PlayStation console has likely expired today, November 7, 2024, hence Kojima Productions finally released it for the Xbox.

To celebrate the game's fifth birthday, Kojima Productions is also offering the Director's Cut edition at $19.99 in the US, and £17.49 in the UK, i.e. at a massive 50% discount. The sequel to the game is also in the works (as was announced back in 2022), and stars Norman Reedus and Lea Seydoux will return to assume the roles of Sam Bridges and Fragile, respectively.

It is still unclear if the sequel will be exclusive to PlayStation at launch, similar to the first game, or if it will arrive across all platforms simultaneously.
