For starters, the upcoming turn-based JRPG remake will offer a deeper glimpse into Ortega's role in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D's story. While the specifics are unknown for obvious spoiler reasons, players will get to know the man on a more personal level. They will learn about the motive behind his own quest to beat Baramos, which also involves a skirmish against a powerful opponent named Simao.

Additionally, new powerful enemies will test the players' combat skills. Showcased bosses include the Dying Fire and Garboyle. What role do they play in the story and what sort of threat will they pose to the player? We'll have to find that out when the game is finally out.

There are more new details to go over, however. Publisher Square Enix has offered a look at new in-game screenshots of various locales. This includes the seafaring nation of Portoga — which houses the largest port in the world — as well as the Japan-inspired island nation called Jipang and the Egyptian-influenced desert-city of Ibis.
