As detailed in the slightly over 2-minute-long trailer, the Dragon Quest HD-2D remakes are ready to launch across multiple platforms - including the Nintendo Switch starting in November of this year.

Of the three games, Dragon Quest 3 will be released first in the form of Dragon Quest III: HD-2D remake for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The game has been given an official release date of November 14, 2024.

Developer Square Enix has also shared a teaser for the HD-2D remakes of Dragon Quest 1 and 2, which are set to release sometime in 2025.

The beloved RPG has been painstakingly reforged using HD-2D visuals (as seen in modern games such as Octopath Traveler) to present a “modern” look to the classic, whilst still retaining its original charm and visual makeup. The remake also features remastered soundtracks and a familiar turn-based combat system, updated with modern quality-of-life improvements.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a Dragon Quest HD-2D remake though, with multiple rumors pointing out at a release in the near future - which was ultimately proven true with today’s Nintendo Direct. This makes it quite an exciting time to be a Dragon Quest fan - with many waiting years for this moment to arrive.
