After Christopher Stone talked about how his son wanted him to work on a new entry in the acclaimed third-person survival horror sci-fi series, Schofield revealed that they had, in fact, tried to pitch an idea for a new game:
"We tried actually, you know, the three of us - Dead Space 4"
Responding to the host's astonishment, Schofield continued:
"I mean, we're talking this year. Well we didn't go to deep, they just said 'we're not interested right now', 'we appreciate it', blah, blah, blah... We know who to talk to so we didn't take it any further and we respected their opinion."
Stone also chimed in, remarking how the publishers are unwilling to take risks. According to him, the team is still willing to work on the project if the opportunity ever arises:
'The industry is in a weird place right now, people are really hesitant to take chances on things. So you got to, you know, take it with a grain of salt. Who knows, maybe one day... I think, we'd all love to do it"
This is interesting because Glen Schofield is the CEO and founder of Striking Distance Studios, the developers behind The Calisto Protocol, a spiritual successor to Dead Space. Now, it seems like EA is not looking for a third party to handle a future installment for the franchise.
Furthermore, EA's Motive Studio was responsible for last year's Dead Space remake. Therefore, it is safe to assume that any potential series projects the publisher has in mind — including a fourth franchise entry — will likely be assigned to their studio instead.
