The original Elden Ring manga has gone on hiatus for a hilarious yet understandable reason. Author Nikiichi Tobita announced on X that the manga's serialization would be paused because he'll be taking some time off to play Shadow of the Erdtree. Surely, Nikiichi won't be the only one skipping work to dive into FromSoftware's latest masterpiece.

People worldwide will be taking leave for various reasons as they prepare to explore the Land of Shadow in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Nikiichi Tobita broke the news through a post on X. He drew a depiction of himself lying in bed with a bubble of thought that contained the weird worm enemy from Shadow of the Erdtree. While Tobita's urge to play Shadow of the Erdtree is surely understandable, this means there will be no new chapters for the manga for some time.

Chapter 45 was the last to come out for Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree before Tobita put it on hiatus. Normally, fans get to enjoy a new chapter of the manga on the 19th of every month. However, due to the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, Tobita will not be treating the fans to a new chapter in July.

Depending on how much time the mangaka takes to finish Shadow of the Erdtree, we might even end up missing August's release. However, despite being fairly large for a DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree shouldn't take less than 25–30 hours to beat. But if Tobita takes his time exploring the Land of Shadow, fans of the manga might have to brace for a dry period.

Another fact worth noting is that Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is jam-packed with new content. SOTE has eight new weapon types and a map nearly as large as Limgrave, it seems like players, including Tobita, will have their hands full for quite a while.
