Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware have announced the release of a brand new trailer for Elden Ring's upcoming DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. Dubbed the "Story Trailer" on Bandai Namco's official X account, likely hinting at being a CGI cinematic, akin to what FromSoftware released for the base game.
Despite being a DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree is arguably one of the most anticipated titles of 2024, which is understandable considering Elden Ring's success. The DLC was first revealed by FromSoftware using concept art back in the first quarter of 2023.
The first proper gameplay trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree was released on February 21, 2024, which also saw the pre-orders for the expansion going live on all platforms. The upcoming trailer marks the second and possibly last proper look at the DLC ahead of its release next month.

According to Bandai Namco Entertainment's X account, the new trailer for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is scheduled to be released on all official channels via YouTube at 3 PM UTC, 11 AM ET, 5 PM CEST, 8:30 PM IST today, i.e., March 21, 2024. Coincidentally, this also marks a month until Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is released.

What to expect from the upcoming Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree trailer?
Given it's titled the "Story Trailer," the new look at the upcoming Elden Ring DLC will most likely be a cinematic showcasing the DLC's lore, and perhaps even tying it to the base game.
However, given none of the past FromSoftware DLCs have received a dedicated cinematic trailer, it might very well be another look at Shadow of the Erdtree's gameplay.
The previous trailer provided fans with a look at some of the bosses. Notable among these was Messmer the Impaler, who, according to the game's designer Hidetaka Miyazaki, serves a pivotal role in the upcoming expansion.
The new trailer might very well showcase the other side of the expansion, i.e., the lore as well as the many NPCs that players will be able to interact with while trying to piece together the mystery behind Miquella as well as the Empyreans. Fans expect the DLC to shed light on a lot of things that the base game left unanswered.
