The much anticipated Far Cry 7 recently received a series of leaks from a well-regarded Assassin’s Creed leaker known as j0nathan, teasing what could be Cillian Murphy’s debut in the series. However, the rumor was recently debunked by the leaker on X, cryptically hinting at “something else” instead (concerning the image posted).

As detailed in the X post above, user j0nathan has confirmed that actor Cillian Murphy will not appear as a villain in Far Cry 7. j0nathan had previously posted a cryptic tweet that assembled four images that included Cillian Murphy, a crab, a bomb, and the number 7, leading many to speculate on the actor’s role as the game’s antagonist.
This was, however, not to be. Things still remain as cryptic as ever, with j0nathan commenting that the image meant “something else” - the meaning of which is yet to be known.
There is not much else to go on at this point, and disappointed readers will have to wait until the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event on June 10, 2024, to find out more.
When could Far Cry 7 be revealed?
The rumored, newest entry in the Far Cry series is expected to release sometime in Fall 2025, as per leaks. Known as “Project Blackbird” internally, the game is expected to be set in the fictional island of Kimsan near Korea.
It follows a currently unnamed protagonist as they attempt to rescue their kidnapped family from a conspiracy group known as the “Sons of Truth.” The game is set to be non-linear with a focus on choices and outcomes.
