This is not HoYoverse's first win in the Google Play Best Of awards, having bagged multiple wins in 2023 as well.

Honkai Star Rail wins Google Play Best of 2024 award for Best Ongoing Game

As announced by Google on its official blog, Honkai Star Rail has won the Best Ongoing Game category at Google Play's Best Of 2024. The winners for this year's awards were revealed on November 18, 2024, in a blog post by Google Play's Vice President and General Manager Sam Bright.

Google Play holds the Best Of the Year awards annually, where not just games, but the best apps and books of the year are also commemorated. The nominees for the categories are not announced to the general public, with only the final winners being revealed towards the end of each year.

Last year, HoYoverse's Honkai Star Rail bagged multiple wins at Google Play's Best of 2023 awards, where it won in the following categories:

• Best Game
• Best Story
• Best for Tablets

To celebrate these wins, Honkai Star Rail gave out 800 free Stellar Jades to players on December 1, 2023. Since the game has only won one award at this year's Google Play's Best of 2024, it remains to be seen if players will get free Stellar Jades this year as a thank-you gift.

Meanwhile, two of HoYoverse's top titles Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail have failed to bag any nominations at this year's The Game Awards. However, HoYoverse's most recent launch Zenless Zone Zero has been nominated in the Best Mobile Game category, with Kuro Games' open-world RPG Wuthering Waves as competition. Honkai Star Rail had been nominated at The Game Awards 2023 in the same category and had won as well.
