A recent Felix “xQc” stream featured footage of popular Twitch streamer ExtraEmily using her phone while driving. It’s something the streamer has been well-known for. It has also ultimately led to her being temporarily banned from the platform. Many people have made their thoughts known on the topic, and now Felix has added to that. He seemed genuinely confused as to why someone would focus on their phone, especially for DuoLingo, while trying to drive.

Over the course of the brief Twitch clip, xQc spoke up about the actions of the OTK-affiliated streamer, having this to say specifically about the situation:

It took xQc a few moments to find a watchable version of the clip in question. In it, ExtraEmily is focused on using the DuoLingo app while streaming and driving. DuoLingo, for those unaware, is a mobile app where people can learn other languages. She was more concerned about her streak of learning in the app than being safe on the road.

Felix seemed to be genuinely baffled by what was going on, and his chat suggested she get banned. After a few moments of thinking, xQc spoke up:

“What the f**k? Yo, DuoLingo? Wait, chat, guys. How is that a priority over anything? The f**kin, DuoLingo!”

Playing the video again, he heard ExtraEmily remark that she had three hours or she’d lose her DuoLingo streak and resumed working on the app while she was on the road. Felix mocked this as well, comparing the importance of DuoLingo to another common mobile app:

“Chat, that’s like driving and looking at the newest drop of Dominos coupons on the app. Like, what the f**k dude? That’s like driving and being like, ‘Oh dude, here’s a family in front of me, but dude, wait a minute, what the f**k, two pizzas, 50% off the second? Wait a minute, that’s dank, guys! Guys, look at the coupons, chat!”

After a few moments, he spoke up again, clearly baffled by the decisions ExtraEmily was making while driving and streaming. She occasionally looked up at the road while using the app, which prompted a response from Felix:

“Like, what the f**k? What is going on, dude? I’m so confused. Anyway.”

Even though ExtraEmily drives a Tesla, it is still dangerous to look at apps, text, or read the phone while driving. The streamer ultimately received her first ban on Twitch, which could last anywhere from 24 to 72 hours for the infraction.

Perhaps the most baffling thing to people was that ExtraEmily was risking not only her life but the lives of others on the road for a DuoLingo streak. Some called her selfish. One person stated that they could easily text while driving, which wasn’t a big deal, but that others should not follow their example.

Others focused on how selfish it was of the streamer to be more worried about not only DuoLingo but a potential Twitch ban instead of being safe on the road. People found her actions to be deplorable, at the very least.

One reply suggested their thoughts depended on whether the autodrive was on, but another chimed in that it wasn’t relevant. Even if the autodrive is on, the driver needs to pay attention to what’s going on around them. This has led to other streamers being banned, such as Fousey.

For the time being, ExtraEmily is banned on Twitch, but it’s unknown for how long. You can learn more about the situation here.
